Aluminum workpieces can be provided with a protective oxide layer by an anodic oxidation. The electrically oxidized aluminum is through this oxide layer resistant to weather conditions and even to diluted acids and alkaline solutions. For cleaning, please do not use "normal" metal polishes because the polishing parts are too hard and that would damage mechanically the protective oxide layer
