With its wide 29 inch wheels, UTILYON sets the standard for exceptionally smooth running. That’s because the rollover angle on small obstacles, such as lowered kerbs or potholes, is flatter, keeping comfort high and preventing bumps.Load capacity and luggage features are particularly important with UTILYON in general. The 180 kg permissible total weight for rider, bike and luggage allows considerably more freedom for individual mobility here. For this reason, luggage options extend beyond loading a saddle bag on the design pannier rack. Thanks to the optional front pannier rack, smaller luggage items can also be stowed in the field of view, directly below the handlebars.To ensure that the total weight of up to 180 kg also moves effortlessly, UTILYON 3 relies on the Performance CX from the Bosch Smart System, which is powered by the PowerTube 750. This is more than enough for longer routes. Thanks to the infinitely adjustable Enviolo Heavy Duty gear hub and the extremely low-maintenance Gates CDX belt, the comfort level is particularly high.Who is UTILYON 3 right for? We developed the model for anyone who wants a stand-alone concept that can satisfy a wide range of requirements. These include multi-day bike tours while carrying the necessary luggage. But it is also excellent for running smaller errands at the supermarket. Provisions can be stored in multiple places – assuming you have the appropriate bags and baskets first.A solid grip is provided by the Contact Urban from Continental, which UTILYON features in 60-622 format, giving the bike a harmonious overall look. The obligatory reflective strips make sure passive safety is guaranteed. Active illumination of the route is provided by the LED lighting with 120 lux. At the rear, the light is not only integrated into the mud guard but also offers an additional lighting function with a motion sensor that essentially takes on the role of a brake light in case of abrupt reductions in speed. But officially it’s a stop light. In any case, we wanted to make sure UTILYON included this useful safety feature.Speaking of reducing speed: UTILYON uses hydraulic disc brakes in 203/180 mm format when stopping. The brake discs with a considerably thicker cross-section ensure long-lasting stability, thus ideally matching the UTILYON concept.UTILYON 3 is available as a dynamically designed model with top tube or as a stylish Mono frame version. Just like in all innovative VICTORIA designs, the battery pack integrated in the lower pipe can easily be lifted up and out without having to worry about dropping it. In view of the high capacity of the battery pack and its resulting intrinsic weight, we do, however, recommend charging it directly on the UTILYON for greater convenience.
